| LILY R. BRIDGES JOHN E. “SUNNY” ROSE, JR. MEMORIAL TRAINNG AWARD – 2026 MARYLAND STATE FIREFIGHTER’S ASSOCIATION
Ambulance Technician Lily R. Bridges is the recipient of the John E. “Sunny” Rose, Jr. Memorial Training Award for 2026. This award was announced at the Maryland State Firefighter’s Association convention on June 23, 2026. Lily received the award on July 14, 2026.
Lily joined the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) in April 2025. She immediately took the Hazardous Materials Awareness course (nine hours), the required Incident Command System courses and CPR/AED. She then enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician course (207 hours) which she completed in August 2025. She was cleared as an Ambulance Technician in November 2025 and responded to nine ambulance calls in 2025 while on duty for 235 hours. Lily also completed the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (21 hours) in October 2025 so she can eventually become an ambulance driver. In summary, Lily completed 237 hours of certified training in 2025 as evidenced in her transcript from the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute.
Lily is putting her training to good use this year. Through March 31 of this year, she has been on duty for 170 hours and responded to 43 ambulance calls. Lily has demonstrated a strong commitment to training and self-improvement. The OVFC is very fortunate to have dedicated and motivated members like her to maintain the vitality of our organization. |
