March 17, 2025

To: The AACVFA Outstanding Member of the Quarter Committee

Dear Committee Members,

It is with great pride that the Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company nominates Firefighter Brady Farrar for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association Outstanding Member of the Quarter award.

Brady joined the company while still a student at Broadneck High School in August of 2022 and proceeded to immediately set the standard of what it means to be a model volunteer. He leapt wholeheartedly into all aspects of what it means to be a volunteer firefighter: training, administrative, and operational.

On the training front, while still a full-time high school student, Brady completed Firefighter I, HAZMAT Operations, EMT-B, and Firefighter II. Not being one to collect training certifications and let them go to waste, Brady has led the company operationally in both hours served in-station and alarms responded to. He has seamlessly integrated into the station, serving alongside both other volunteer and career staff. He has served as both an example and mentor to new members. Additionally, Brady has accepted several positions within the company to help it administratively, including running the food truck program and serving on the social media, website, coffee & vending, fundraising, and street address signs committees.

In the past 27 months, Brady has logged a total of 2,641 volunteer hours. That is over three hours per day, every single day, for 27 months. This week (March 17th, 2025) alone he is scheduled for 18.5 hours of duty. He has responded to over 250 alarms. He has helped plan and staff company fundraising, public outreach, and public safety events including touch-a-trucks, Santa runs, and fire prevention week events. Brady has done the work, stood in the rain, shivered in the cold, perspired in the heat, carried heavy loads, shown care and compassion for his community, and even been bitten by a dog during his time with the company.

That being said, the pride of the Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company is tempered with sadness because Brady has graduated high school, enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Fire Protection Specialist, and later this year will leave us to serve his nation after years of serving his local community. With the last several years speaking to his character and drive, he is sure to not only succeed but excel on his new path in life.

Brady has undoubtedly and indisputably had a tremendous positive impact on his community, his station, the wider department, and his fellow volunteers and this nomination is just a small token of our appreciation for him.

Respectfully,
Randi Beavers
President, Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company
