Laurence Edward Harrison, 59, of New Market, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at University of Mayland Medical Center. Born September 19, 1964 in Baltimore he was the son of the late Robert Laurence Harrison and Erlene Elizabeth Kreiner Harrison. He was the husband of Shawn Harrison.
Prior to retirement he worked as a paramedic and firefighter, then going to work for Frederick City Parking Enforcement. He enjoyed brass music, playing in the Stone House Brass Band with his daughters, motorcycles, roller skating, Godzilla and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters Sheridan and Samantha Harrison, both of New Market and a brother Bobby Harrison.
The Annapolis Fire Department regretfully shares the news of the passing of Retired Firefighter First Class Laurence E. Harrison on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Firefighter First Class Harrison began his fire service career with the Annapolis Fire Department on September 8, 1994 and was promoted to Firefighter First Class on October 10, 2002. Before his retirement on October 1, 2019, he was a Paramedic working his twenty-five year career in assisting the residents of Annapolis. He received letters of appreciation from patients he treated as well as those he assisted with Public Education programs including CPR. He served on the Physical Fitness Committee to help build that departmental program. His accolades include receiving a Commendatory Letter from the Fire Chief for the resuscitation of a patient in Cardiac Arrest, a Unit Citation for a response to occupants trapped in an apartment fire and another letter from the Fire Chief for his work on the kitchen renovations at the Eastport Fire Station.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life for Firefighter First Class Harrison on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the American Legion Post 191 in Mt. Airy. It will be a potluck event, so everyone is asked to bring a dish or drink to share. There will be a cash bar available and the Naptown Brass Band will be playing music. The family has shared that he would not want everyone to be sad, so all are invited to join in celebrating what a wonderful husband, father and friend he was to so many others
