Sylvia Hammond, 80, passed away on August 29 at her home in Odenton. She was born on March 8, 1935 in Chambersburg, PA and was a stay at home mother to her family. She was a longtime member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary as well as Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was involved in the Clothes Closet. She was predeceased by her husband Martin Hammond, Sr. in 2002. Surviving are her children Timothy Hammond (Pam) of Millersville, Sharon Talbert (Mike) of Odenton, Carol Knott of Odenton, and Martin Hammond, Jr. (Elena) of Millersville; grandchildren Marty Hammond III, Amanda Patterson, Michael Talbert, Jr., Kimberly Talbert, Jamie Knott, Lindsay Mcallister, and Tyler Hammond; and great-grandchildren Augustus, Gabriel, Allison, Aaron, Ryan and Sidney. A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday September 1 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A. 851 Annapolis Rd. Gambrills, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday September 2 at 11am at Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church 1239 Murray Rd. Odenton, MD 21113. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
